In Lost in the Caves you will hear more than reverb applied to the bass clarinet, alluding to a cave-like atmosphere. The title can be interpreted in a direct way, reflecting the emotional state of one being lost in real-life caves, where the fast high notes in the bass clarinet altissimo register reflect increasing anxiety and the climactic high note represents a primal scream releasing tension. Or we can understand the caves to be the watering holes some frequent where a night of new encounters and of new escapes abound, where we experience the joy, thrill, and the excitement of the unknown. But be weary to get lost in those caves or it can lead to darker paths!
